Jean,
It couldn't have been an OBE.
I had the dream (or whatever it was) the night before I flew north from Kentucky to Detroit. At the time, I had no reason to believe that I would be going anywhere the next day. And I wasn't floating; I was sitting. When I got up the next day I didn't feel sick at all. It didn't hit me until I got on the plane. When I looked out the window I saw the top of the clouds in a configuration I had never seen before or since. The only difference between the dream and the actual experience was the fact that in the dream the seat, the airplane and everyone else aboard it were missing.
I can think of one conventional explanation, but it doesn't quite work. First of all, I can't say I thought about the dream when I woke up in Kentucky. I didn't. I didn't remember it until I saw the top of the clouds. Then the whole thing exploded in my mind the way it was when I dreamed it. When I dozed off on the plane and saw the tops of the clouds it is possible, from what I know of most deja vu experiences, that my mind played a time trick on me. That is, perhaps I did have the experience before - a fraction of a second before I recognized what I was seeing -- and somehow attributed it to something I dreamed the night before.
The problem with that explanation is that I didn't experience deja after I woke up with the plane flying above the clouds. I experienced it as I first got on the plane when I felt like I was coming down with the flu - before I'd even taken my seat. --Jasper
