The sequence of events is right, the time could be right if Rovaan is right about the time Karpf left the airport for home - assuming he went straight home. But…
If Karpf hollered "Hey! Hey! Hey!" why was there a 15 to 20 second delay before the gate slammed? That's a long time to wait if you're simply closing a gate in front of you or running a few feet for protection from a scary-looking dog. A man on crutches can "dash" 50 yards in 15 seconds. A slow runner can cover 100 yards in 20 seconds. How about a healthy, young man being chased by a barking dog?"
And what could Heidstra have heard that he interpreted as an argument between Mr. "Hey! Hey! Hey!" (Karpf?) and Mr. "deeper voice"? It wasn't the dogs because their barking is why he couldn't discern what the men were saying. He knew the sound that each dog made so HE knew that it wasn't either dog.
Also, if Heidstra and Pilnak are right about the time the barking begin, why wasn't Karpf aware of any barking until he got to Bundy and saw the dog?
One final thing that has to be taken into account when interpreting the evidence of what happened between the last time Nicole was known to be alive and the time Schwab found the Akita: Nicole was on the telephone with her mother from 10:17 to 10:28. Assume that Nicole and Ron were attacked immediately after that call and the assault lasted the minimum time required to explain the victims' wounds (10:33). If the dog starting barking at 10:33 or 10:34 and the victims were already dead you still have a problem…
