I asked Dick about the VA Hospital by Ron's apartment and this is what he said:
"If you keep going about 2 blocks farther on Gorham than Ron's apartment you come to the federal tract. It has been mostly used for the last 100 or more years for veteran's issues, and at one time had a veteran's hospital and an old soldier's home. About a mile across that federal land one comes to the 405 freeway, and instantly beyond that is a national cemetary where servicemen from before WWII are buried -- it became full during that war. My understanding is that day-to-day veteran's issues (such as hospital, clinic, and residence) were moved out of there years ago, but some medical research and administration remains."
