Solitaire1 …I saw that photo on the Internet about ten years ago. I have no idea where it came from. When it disappeared (almost immediately) I did not expect to see it again. …………It’s hard to tell how old Fuhrman is in that photo. He doesn’t appear to me to be older than 10. It looks like a Polaroid group photo with his face cut out and blown up. An average 10-year-old would not have painted his face as symmetrically as the face in the photo or been as attentive to detail to cover his ears and neck or to try to give his hair a more “Negroid” appearance. But these are the very things that a youngster with natural artistic talent would do. ………..In the late ’50s and early ’60s blackface was a common sight in ads on billboards and other print media in some regions of the country. I saw them every time I went with my family to visit relatives in South Carolina. I didn’t know they had them anywhere else – except in Life Magazine articles and in old television movies. Anytime you saw anything on television about the first taking movie, you saw it on the face of “the world’s greatest entertainer” http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0427231/ ………Fuhrman didn’t have to do anything special for that image to work its way into his brain. He just had to be a boy doing what all American boys did growing up in the 1950s and early ’60s. –Jasper
