Jean, …After reading TMZ’s If I Did IT manuscript my bet is that you are right on target. This is not a book. It’s not a “camera ready” collection of pages for a book. It’s an “uncorrected draft.” That’s what publishers send out to reviewers precisely for the purpose of getting pre-publicity. Big reviewers don’t want to see finished books. They want to see the book in the process of being finished – they want to see errors that tell them the book has not been finalized. ……………This manuscript has lots of them (Paul instead of Paula/ clood or some such thing instead of blood, etc.). There sees to be little or no fact checking (like which glove was left on Bundy and the lock on which of Nicole’s gates was broken). The typesetting for italics is offset. Fischman is spelled wrong (“Fishman”) and the segue into the “Charlie” story is abrupt and inconsistent with everything that came before it and most of what followed with no explanation for the discontinuity. ….………. Errors like these are normal in the writing process. Even a writer who makes no technical mistakes (a rare breed) slips up somewhere. The faster the book gets written the more errors there will be. If I Did It was definitely cranked out in a big hurry. It’s far from being put in a polished form. I can’t believe that O.J., Arnelle, Jason, Justin or Sydney ever read it or that the writer Pablo Fenjves read it twice. This was Judith Regan’s doing. And her overriding consideration had to be time. –Jasper
