Justme, …The civil trial ended on February 4, 1997. Because of the Lauren Cohen link between Ron and Fuhrman, I wanted to know whether the Goldmans had seen the Mothers poem photo in Fuhrman’s book before or after Fred’s book went to the printer. It made sense to me that Fred would say what he did about Lauren in the acknowledgments ONLY if he didn’t know about the connection. ………On the other hand, Fred certainly knew about the Phillips connection to Fuhrman and had no problem with including his name. I now suspect that Phillips was Ron-the-informer’s LAPD handler and as such, was obliged to go to Ron’s funeral. I do not think he wanted his name included in Fred’s acknowledgments and was horrified to see it. Vannatter and Lange make sense: They were the lead detectives with respect to the Goldmans and Lange actually worked for them. So did Det. Carr but I didn’t see his name mentioned. Why Phillips?. ………..This is Bob Baker questioning Phillips in the civil trial, October 29, 1996: …Q. You have made public appearances with the Goldman family; is that right? …A. I don't believe so. …Q. Have you ever appeared, or have you ever attended any kind of rallies or anything like that or any kind of publication in support of the Ron Goldman Foundation? …A. No, I have not. …Q. You've had discussions with Mr. Goldman since the acquittal; is that right? …A. Other than to say hi to him and how are you doing, and hope your family is doing fine, and he asks me the same. And that's basically been our conversations. ………..What are we to make of that? ……….. The value of Fred’s acknowledgements lies in the fact that it is so extensive. It looks like he made a determined effort to include everybody he associated with helping him materially or spiritually after Ron’s death whether their contributions were large or small. ………..I got the impression that many names came from sympathy cards and mourners at Ron’s funeral and that he intentionally left out Ron’s friends that he didn’t approve of. If this is true, Ron’s friends NOT on the list are as important as those that are on the list. Some would be more important. Where, for instance is Craig Clark who told the L.A. Times on June 15 1994 that he saw Ron driving Nicole’s Ferrari and Michael Pincus, who said in the same article that he knew Ron from kindergarten in Chicago? I wonder who else is missing from that list and whether there is a pattern to their exclusion. –Jasper
