This is very complicated, so to simplify it, it looses some in the fine points. ----------------------------------------------- The central nervous system works on chemicals and electricity. You have nerves that have gaps between one nerve to another. The nerve in your foot is very long and many gaps called synapses. Chemicals called neurotransmitters jump across these synapses to carry the message, say to move your big toe. Most of the way you get these chemicals is from the food you eat, either as a neurotransmitter or the chemicals needed for the body to make them. Nothing in the body works without them. To start with is the heart. Some of these neurotransmitters slow the body down and some speed it up and many more things. Slow down gives you relaxation, depression, slow heart beat and low blood pressure. Speed up gives you feelings of well being, anxiety, convulsions. ----------------------------------------------- Nearly all drugs that relieve pain, for depression, anxiety, all so called "illigal drugs, certain health food store drugs, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, etc are neurotransmitters to make the nerves fire less or more. ------------------------------------------------- The heart works from these neurotransmitters to move more or less blood from place to place. There are 2 parts. One part takes the blood from all the veins from the rest of the body to the lungs to be oxygenated, the other part takes the blood from the lungs that has been oxygenated and sends it thru the arteries to the rest of the body. ------------------------------------------------ If you get to much or too many slow down neurotransmitters this leads to oxygen deprivation and eventually heart stoppage. Too much speed up can even change the anatomy of the heart but it gets to beating too fast and like a motor wears out and stops. ----------------------------------------------- Anna took too many slow down drugs, which she should have never been prescribed. With the little that I know, if I gave her these drugs then it would be murder. If I let her take them, knowing her brain could not function well enough to make a logical decision, then it would be negligent man slaughter. ------------------------------------------------ The reason I know this is that feeling fine, the doctor's found I had high blood pressure, They gave me blood pressure meds, (most people can take them with no problem-so don't not take them as you are probably in the no problem class-but never go off them or any drug without asking your doctor should I not wean off the drug and say it like you know what you are talking about and might sue him if he gives the wrong advice-Then if he says no, call your pharmacist and ask him as a double check (weaning is  gradually decreasing the drug dosage so the nervous system is not shocked). Anyhow, I can't take most neurotransmitters and taking me off cold turkey has screwed up the muscles all over my body. So I educated myself. Thank heaven for google.
