I can see how that happened with a computer, but a fax is different. It is always dated with only the original date of the fax. Cause you only do it once, it does not store stuff like a computer. If he has a wrong date on his fax, then he is a lously lawyer. Lets say that you printed out the letter that had a prior date and then faxed it. Then the letter would have one date and the fax would have another date of when it was faxed. An amature taking a picture with a vidio camera might have the wrong date as who cares if a picture of the kids is dated wrong. But a professional would usually have the right date as they know it might be important down the road as to when X did what.
