If you are like most of us, Buster, in today's nutty world, you begin to question every news blurb and all official bulletins. Randi Rhodes has a theory that the news of l2 deaths was suppressed until the 11:00 p.m. news cycle was over, thus missing widespread pessimism from our media. They were all in place down in W. VA and would have been in a position to monitor townspeople's anguish and anger. AS it turned out, it only hyped the outrage (and hyped the viewing rates, no doubt). She thinks the media gloms onto these tragedies as a way of diverting attention from Bush, Inc's ongoing travails with the justice system. There's about thirty people involved with Abernoff who are under investigation, not to mention a bundle of Bush's inner circle over the outing of CIA noc, Valerie Plame. But we Bush watchers are always quick to pull out the "wag the dog" scenario when lots of other stories get more play...because that is the way politics works and the Pubbies have the whole of the four (which includes media) branches of gov oversight in a hammer lock. Why would anyone want to kill miners?-- someone asked. Why would anyone want to kill anyone? Money, revenge, power, strategy. Let's see how Tallmansville continues to play out in the press and on TV; might give us a clue...marilyn
