Mario, ……….Your post is right on target. Bill Wasz had every intention of coming to Detroit because he had no choice. You and I were taking him apart so badly that the credibility he needed to sell his new documentary on the prison system was slipping away daily. Meeting with me – and playing it straight with me – was his only way of getting it back. ………..In our first telephone conversation he surrendered immediately to my negative critique on Patriot Porn, the documentary he did for Joe Bosco and “Freddy.” I felt a con coming on and I got it. He made me feel so bad for beating up on him that I apologized. He made me feel like a bully until I realized he was beating up on me. I got him. He got me. We were even. When he refers to himself on the tape as “Satan,” it’s his way of getting in a dig at me for what I said about him before we talked. ……….You had to talk to Bill Wasz to get the full grasp of his intelligence and his charm. He was the kind of guy who could sell you sand in the Sahara and leave you thinking that you got a great deal. You liked him because he made you like him. ……….Bill’s prison system documentary was his baby. I had no idea how I was supposed to fit into it and I told him so. He said that it didn’t matter. I could ask him anything I pleased. He assuring me that he told the truth and would tell the truth – and he proceeded to tell a big lie. He also told me that he could only say some things privately. I agreed. I didn’t press him on that gigantic point and I didn’t tell anyone about it as long as he was alive – which wasn’t long – assuming he is dead. I didn’t have to tell whoever was eavesdropping and letting us know it with the beeps we heard after that. He go it himself from Bill. –Jasper
