Let's see if this will finish and post... Judith Raegan was or is still attached to the decidedly rightness of Republican politics at Regnery Publishing. Yes, the dubious house that published Mark Fuhrman's "Murder in Brentwood" in 1997. Also among their stirling clientele is a whole list of literary hacks, backbiting conservative partisans and even one or two journalists, who should know better than to throw in with this pack of devolved anti- intellectuals (a sure sign of having fallen under the spell of Ronald Reagan-:). So to put it all in perspective, let me name a few and their contributions to thought polution. This really ticks me off because I am committed to natural conservation; their attempts to divert resources into mindless political tracts is sooooo wasteful of paper-producing trees. Here we go: John O'Neill who wrote the anti-John Kerry screed along with Jerome R. Corsi which is entitled, "Unfit for Command: Swiftboat Veterans against John Kerry." The book was easily discredited, unless you had been relieved of your critical faculty. Ann Coulter was picked up by Regnery with her "High Crimes and Misdemeanors," which, of course, dealt in her own peculiar way with the Bill Clinton impeachment farce. Other far-right stalwarts include that paragon of vertue, Newt ('Contract on America' back in '94 upon his ascendency to power in the US House) Gingrich; Laura Ingraham (another conservative shill for all things right and wonderful); Barbara Olson's polemic skewering Hillary Clinton, "Hell to Pay," and I am wondering if this woman is now enjoying her reserved place there; another voice from the outer fringes of reality, Pat Buchanan and his just-this-side of fascist pronouncements; Michelle Malkin, whose parents immigrated from the Philappines and now spends much time and paper castigating policies of liberal immigration--when she is fairly sane. And my favorite neonazi member of the established media, R. Emmett Tyrrell, Jr., who was so instrumental in pulling down the office of the US presidency (using heir Richard Mellon Scaife's donations to his sleazy little magazine) pursuing Bill and Hillary Clinton unto death--the death of democratic principles in our government. He didn't quite succeed in literally lynching them but there was no one on the left left standing after 2000. A veritable rogues gallery of character assassins. Go to the Regnery Publishing site and read for yourself and weep for the country. And then ponder, along with Jasper, all the myriad connections, conspiracies and collaborations that brought us to where we are today...marilyn
