The only reason I believe the bank box was rented by Nicole at sometime is because the bank was in the same building or next door to O.J.'s (Orenthal Productions) business office. This would be a logical place for her to rent a box when they were married.
Regarding Nicole keeping valuables at home and not in her bank box: I always found it odd that Nicole kept all her jewelry -gifts from O.J.- at home because she accused maids and O.J.'s niece of stealing from her. It was interesting that she so freely gave out keys to her house to strange men she "pickup" like Kato and Keith Z and trusted them in her house with her children and valuables.
