The reason he "forgot" to put in about the bag is that Vannatter had that bag ALL day in his possession. He took it from Rockingham, did not take it in from his car into the station, and did not return it to OJ at the police station.
He carried it with him when he returned to Rockingham at 5:00+.
So, this bag that certain things were found in later was in VAnnatter's possession longer than his blood sample was that he carried around.
One of the reasons that they skirted around what was in the bag and when.
I have said prior to this as to Fuhrman's book--it is much more interesting what he leaves OUT than what he puts in it.
Like getting Ron's wounds in the wrong place.
