I agree, but if are suspicions are indeed true, eventually someone will reveal new details of the crime. Once that happens, the vultures will turn on each other.
People like Dunne do not play any important role in society and therefore have to search for an avenue to fame. Fuhrman and those like him can not live without fame, so they do whatever is necessary to achieve it again and again.
Eventually, this illness will lead to their own demise.
