Actually the length of the trip was more like 75+ miles at the time of the murders--as listed on the map quests. It only went down after the construction was finished.
Also, that was Sunday night when people heavily travel the interstate going home from weekend trecks. Parks even mentioned the traffic was heavy that night on his way to the airport.
On our I 75-which is a major north/south interstate, just like that one is, Sunday night tends to be the heaviest traffic of all.
