Nicole had trouble with Kato running off, too. About two weeks before the murders he got out and O.J. and Faye had to track him down. One of them must have left the front gate open too wide or too long. That's probably why he was usually kept in back between the middle gate and the rear.
One of the few things in Darden's book that made sense was is question about how Fuhrman knew where the dog was kept.
