Jasper, They were ALL looking in the wrong place. It is on NIcole's phone bill--not theirs.
Lou said the phone was ringing when they opened the door and it was Nicole CALLING.
I think the earlier call is too short to have been much of a call about the glasses--with an explanation. I think it was probably a message on her machine. And Nicole called them when she thought they had time to get home or perhaps it wasn't the first time she had attempted to call them.
She was either calling them back or checking to see if they got home ok.
It is Nicole's phone bill where they should have been looking for it.
