Charlie,
…Or, if the Brown's turned what really happened on its head. Let's face it, these are not honest people. They have a vested interest in throwing as much doubt as possible on the validity of that last phone call to Nicole. They don't have to convince a sole that the time on the bill is wrong. All they have to do is create enough suspicion about it to start an argument.
Surely the Phone Company still had a record of that bill long before the preliminary hearing. Marcia turned it over to the defense. Robert Shipero stipulated for the defense that the bill was correct -and then seemed to forget what he stipulated to. It didn't surface again until after the judgement in the civil case when Dr. Johnson won his legal campaign to get a copy of it.
Unfortunately, Dr. Johnson was looking for a bill that showed an 11:00 to from Judith's phone to Nicole's and cried "Fraud!" when he didn't see it on the copy of a copy he received. He did see some things that he thought were proof of tampering. I saw the bill and I saw where and why he got it wrong. Wagner should have seen it, too unless he's been out of engineering too long or he never realized what happens when a copy of a copy is reduced, copied and enlarged again. You get what I saw in that bill. You, Charlie, saw some things that you were certain could not have come from the Phone Company. My experience in that regard was different from yours. But even if we assume that the copy of the bill that Dr. Johnson reserved was tampered with by amateurs, the poor quality of the copy was so bad that it alone would have been enough to put its validity in doubt
I don't recall the Brown's share of the 33 million-dollar judgement against O.J. But they sure as hell won't collect a dime of it if they happen to find evidence that clears him. A valid phone bill goes a long way toward that end. --Jasper
