very interesting. Now you are talking about status in the big pond and the same would work in the little pond. The decon in the church or even the church member or the newest car on the block and this thing of wearing labals. And it would explain in a backward way of the woman who stays with a husband who beats her. Status of being the most abused and the sympathy it gets. Or having the most operations. Or being the biggest serial killer. So I can see this as gaining status that is positive or status that is negetive, but just as important to the person.
