Pat,

The more I look at Fuhrman's notes, the more I doubt that they were ever intended to be read on the murder scene and the more I suspect that Lange and Vannatter didn't read them because they didn't know what they had. Checking the transcripts I found in the March 17 testimony of Phil Vannatter that he was the one Phillips gave the notes to shortly after he arrived on Bundy at 4.05. They were all walking around with flashlights looking at vital pieces of evidence because it was too dark to see very clearly. How could Fuhrman expect Vannatter to read his notes at that time? And the time is important because of the bloody fingerprint.

Vannatter said that he kept possession of Fuhrman's notes and he identified them as the same ones that were showed in court (which means he must have at least scanned them at some time but it doesn't tell us when). Fuhrman's name was nowhere on those notes. It was pasted onto the page in Fuhrman's book in a place at the top that didn't exist on the paper he gave to Phillips to turn over to Vannatter (no space at the top of the page for a name). If he wanted Vannatter to read them, why on earth would he leave off his name?

Moreover, Fuhrman says that Phillips put his notes in his (Phillips') notebook long before the detectives from RHD arrived. Not once did he say that Phillips read his notes, nor did he give a reasonable explanation for why he didn't just show Vannatter or Lange the fingerprint? Why wait for him to read it in his notes?

All of this eventually gets back to Tracie Savage in terms of who could have possibly leaked the news to her about the "bloody ski mask in O.J.'s bedroom closet" (now I'm sure that she broke the story first). It had to be Fuhrman. It didn't hit me until I tried to put a list together of all the people who were associated in some way with Fuhrman's notes (number 17 describes the ski mask) and O.J.'s bedroom closet on the 13th . I came up with a list of one - Mark Fuhrman.

I'm looking at patterns here, patterns in Fuhrman's behavior and in Tracie Savage's. I'm taking another look at who might have made at least one of those premature calls about the Bundy murders around 10:30. It's starting to look more like Tracie Savage all the time. -Jasper
