Charlie,
Bizarre, is putting it kindly. However, there could be a benign explanation.
I went over everything I could find about the 10:00 visitor when I was researching for Iago and came up with one person, Marcus Allen (see Killing Time and American Tragedy). By all accounts his white Ford Bronco was parked out in front of the condo. He left within a few minutes of when he arrived and long before the dog started barking. If the police and prosecutors determined that the visitor was indeed Marcus Allen (a married man) and that he had nothing to do with the killing, they may have kept quite about it simply to protect his privacy. No sense in dragging an innocent man through the mud if his presence wasn't relevant to the case.
I'm not saying this was the right call; I'm saying that it could have been a judgment call similar to ones that are made all the time for good reasons. The public doesn't have a right to know everything and somebody has to make the call. --Jasper
