Pat,

I doubt it.

Joe Bosco made a big deal out of the extent to which Brad Roberts participated in the investigation and the fact that he made no reports about what he did. He made it clear that Roberts was a mystery to him. He also made it clear that the cop having the affair with Savage was someone all of the members of the press knew well. I got the impression that the public wouldn't have known his name if they heard it because he wasn't an official party to the investigation. In any event, the guy begged Bosco and other members of the press not to tell on him. I can't see how they would have respected his wishes if they thought his relationship with Savage would shed any light on HIS source of information.

Tracie Savage's ROOT source of information about the ski mask (I don't know about the socks) could only have been Fuhrman, Phillips or Roberts if it was leaked as deliberate misinformation. Those were the only people who saw Fuhrman's notes for nearly a year after he handed them to Phillips to give to Vannatter and Lange. When the notes were in the custody of Lange and Vannatter (Lange OR Vannatter?) anyone, including the janitor, could have stolen a peek at them unless on one of them took the notes home and sat on them for a year.

The "sneak-a-peek" scenario would explain why the person stealing the peak got the information wrong. What makes me doubt that scenario is the fact that the "error" fits a pattern in the notes themselves. It fits a pattern of "errors" you would expect in rough notes -- that just happened to put distance between Fuhrman and his knowledge of the real evidence. --Jasper
