The trouble is no one ever tried to make a connection between Savage and Fuhrman or to rule it out. The only thing I'm sure of is that the cop she was accused of seeing was NOT Fuhrman. Joe Bosco made that pretty clear although he didn't say so explicitly. Whoever the cop was, he got a promotion after he made the premature report to Savage about the blood on the socks belonging to Nicole and O.J. That rules out Fuhrman, Phillips, Vannatter, Lange and Luper. Moreover, Bosco said he got the story from someone else. That means it could have come from anywhere that the men passing on the story to Savage considered to be a reliable source.
That doesn't mean Savage was beyond Fuhrman's influence. Somebody gave her the story about the ski mask that was first reported on the 14th and the only place you'll find a ski mask on either crime scene is in Fuhrman's 17th note. Fuhrman said that he gave his notes to Phillips who passed them on to Vannatter and Lange. If neither of them read the notes, as it appears that neither of them did, it becomes increasingly difficult to explain how Tracie Savage could have been so sure about the ski mask that she would report it without the input of someone who did read the note.
The very nature of an illicit relationship suggests that if one did exist between Savage and a trusted source within the LAPD, they would do everything they could to hide it. But there need not have been a direct relationship of any kind between Savage and Fuhrman for him to leak whatever message to her that he wanted, provided they had a mutual friend (consider the Ron Shipp connection to Fuhrman, Faye, Denise, Nicole and O.J.). A friend of a friend would be even better (one more person removed from the source) in terms of plausible deniability. Fuhrman had a lot of friends on Bundy. I wonder how many of them had a wife and children - and got a promotion after Tracie savage gave her report about the blood on the socks. --Jasper
