You are wrong about Condit. He has in fact admitted to the affair.
Several of his staff are threatening to quit over it because he lied to them and caused them to go out and state that he didn't have an affair. He was lying to them as well.
And it is silly for the cops to say he is not a suspect. They searched his condo, took samples of items that could be blood. He was one of the last if not the last to speak to her that they know about.
As her secret lover who had a passion for keeping the affair secret to the point of having women meet him without ID and who received 20 calls from her on that last day, he most certainly is a suspect. He may be an "innocent" suspect in the end but he is a suspect.
They wouldn't bother searching his apartment, taking the samples (including DNA) and want a lie detector test if he wasn't a "suspect".
