Jolana,
Heidstra was one of the few reliable time witness in the case because he walked his dogs every along the same route every day. He knew when he started his walk, he knew how fast the dogs walked and he knew what time it was well within five minutes at each point along the way.
He always walked west down Gorham to Bundy and got to Bundy about 10:35. That's what time he said he heard the first dog begin to bark. That's what made him alter his normal route and go south down the alley instead of going south down Bundy. The dog barked constantly for at least 20 minutes according to every witness. Some said it lasted for longer than that. Some said it started ten to fifteen minutes earlier (couldn't have). Another witness who called her mother at 10:33 said that it started shortly after that. Whatever he heard and saw happened before 10:50 (that's assuming he was off in his estimate of time by five minutes). If the killings happened after 10:50 he could not have seen or heard anything relevant to the murders because he was a long block away at home.
The bottom line is that there is, at most, a 20-minute gap in the time that all five of the people said INDEPENDENTLY that they heard a dog begin to bark and continue to bark constantly. Only Denise Pilnak's time and Robert Heidstra's time agree with the four other witness who could testify to NOT hearing the dog bark before 10:24 and the two witness out of that group how said that head on dog before 10:30. The only way Denise Pilnak could be of by more than a minute or to is if her two watches were wrong, her phone record was altered and her computer clock was off by EXACTLY one hour.
One clock was off by an hour (but not exactly) and that wasn't really a clock. It was the time stamp on the credit card bills. One of the waitresses (Tia Gavin) THOUGHT that the time clock was off by an hour, but she didn't come and go by that clock. The times she came to work and the time she left conform to the time clock. The time EVERYBODY came and went to work at Mezzaluna conformed to the time clock. Ron left at 9:50. The time clock was accurate. --Jasper
