By the time the Defense seemed to not care about the timeline several deaths had occurred, before trial they stated they had complete alibi for O J. Simpson. I think that O.J. Simpson's defense team had reason to pull their punches by the time they started pulling them. Think about how forceful the opening statement was and how they came so close to blowing the entire case wide open and then a few people died and the defense began doing just enough to make sure O.J. Simpson was not found Guilty.
