They had their problems in the team, for sure, but I think Shapiro's problem was his opposition to the question of race in the case (which I disagree with, race was and is an issue). I didn't notice any doubts about OJ innocence in his book. When he goes over the evidence it is obvious to me that he believed in the case they presented.
He also said that had he been younger and single he would have wanted to take on the civil case. Even said that his boys were disappointed in him that he wasn't going to be part of that (I don't think he was asked).
He did a great job putting the team together and even though he might not have been as hard working and organized as some of the other lawyers I kind of like him. Miss Marple
