I don't know if it was the same overpass you are speaking of, but just minutes after the earthquake a police officer going over an overpass didn't see that the middle of it had fallen and he went flying off and was killed. Now the people below that overpass if there were any, just may have made some local news. It didn't speak about those below where he fell except to say he hit no one. This by itself may have cause a phobia, since it was caused by the big Earthquake.
