To escape the news of the election, I have watched more stuff like gardening etc. Now I am finding that flower bed has a couple of meanings. It can actually be flowers or just low green plantings. Ivy is a low green planting that is hard to get thru. We know that there was a lot of ivy as Rosa was afraid to go in the backyard because she thought that there were snakes in the ivy. So we don't know if Fuhrmans flower bed was floweres or ivy. But also a lot of big houses will have a small bed, not for show but to cut for the house. So it could be one of those also. Could even been a few rose bushes or similar. In other words, we don't know. But they sure would have been stepped on and they would have taken pictures for sre.
