Jean,

Sometimes people use the terms, "wall" and "fence" interchangeably with regard to the walls and fences surrounding the Rockingham estate. And sometimes when they're thinking about the walls and the fences the wrong word slips out. The same thing applies to "flowers" and "vegetation." Sometimes people get confused in the thinking or the writing, so I wouldn't make a big deal out of that unless there was something else it the use of the wrong word to indicate an intent to deceive.

The Salinger's side of the cyclone fence was paved and wide enough to drive a car through. That side of the fence was, in fact, a driveway that went from the front of the house to the rear. The trees lining the fence at the point where the glove was found were apparently spaced wide enough apart for someone to get over the fence, judging by the defense's response to Marcia's scenario that O.J. did just that. They did not argue that it couldn't be done, but that it wasn't done because of the undisturbed vegetation around the glove. In A Problem of Evidence, Joe Bosco says that Dr. Lee also had problems with the angle of the jump, noting that the jumper would have had to jump nearly straight up and down, which defies the laws of physics.

The glove had been discovered long before Fuhrman and Roberts talked to Rosa Lopez and there was no reason that their footprints wouldn't legitimately be wherever they would make an impression. I'm convinced that the reason Fuhrman and Roberts talked to Rosa Lopez was to see if she could recognize their voices when they were talking about what to do with the glove before Arnelle got home from the movies. I am also convinced that Roberts planted the glove after Fuhrman talked to Kato to make sure he had a reasonable excuse to look where the glove would be found. -- Jasper
