Jean,

That can't be it.

I did the show on a Wednesday. Rush Limbaugh was on vacation for the whole week. I didn't know that because I didn't normally listen to the station. When I heard the show that Friday, the host I talked to was announced as Limbaugh's replacement. There was a seamless blend between the news of the day (Friday), the guy who called in about the top-ten lists Wednesday while I was waiting to go on the air followed by more discussion of Friday's news.

Jean, this was a dishonest blend of live and "Memorex." That Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, somebody made a decision to do a show that contained a selected portion of the Wednesday show. On Wednesday, they inserted the top-ten call as though it was being made in real time. That's an editorial decision. One could argue that it was made because my interview wasn't as good as I thought it was or because the top-ten call fit in better with Wednesday's news or the tone they wanted to set for that day's show. One could argue that the top-ten call was so good that somebody figured they had to get it into the Wednesday show.

The important thing is, a Friday listener anywhere in the United States (except the broadcast area in Florida, assuming it was broadcast there live) would have thought they were listening to one show when they were actually hearing a splicing of two. The goal was to make a show that made the host look good. The top-ten call did that. The interview with the author of Iago in Brentwood didn't. -- Jasper.
