Jean,

I read the story of Cain and Able again. No son's named Ham. Don't know where that came from.

There isn't much in Genesis about Adam and Eve and their children, and what is there is suject to a zillion interpretations. There is, however, mention of a lot of blood on the ground and the suggestion that God made other couples like Adam and Eve who lived in far away places and bore children with whom the children of Adam and Eve could marry and have childern. Whatever the mark was that God put on Cain was put there for his protection -- to keep other people from killing him on sight for what he did to his brother....

What other people, you ask?

Beats me. This is probably where race-based religions get their license to add whatever is necessary to make their case. --Jasper
