Jean,

You said something here that never occurred to me and I hope you will say more about. Fung may very well have been Singlar's deep throat or, as you say, one of them.

Fung never impressed me as being dumb OR playing dumb. The impression I got was that of a man between a rock and a hard place in terms of his training, his courtroom polish, his loyalty to the team, his desire to do a good job and his desire to tell the truth. These are a lot of conflicting pressures that would make anyone in his position look like a jackass. I got the same feeling about about Andrea Mazzola.

The thing that grabbed me was what Dr. Lee said about the juriors being able to see from the different photos that the evidencence had been moved. The envelope was in two or three different places. The coins were arranged in differnt patterns and somehow went from twenty-two cents to eleven cents. The glove was moved all over the place. in one photo it was turned aroung 180 degrees from where it is in the photo on page 621. Dr. Lee could not undestand why they would lie about things like that. It makes sense that things will sometimes get shifted around a little bit inadverdently. That's something everyone can understand. Lee said that it was usually no big deal. The big deal to him was that they felt complled to lie about it under oath when the jurors could see from the different photos taken of the same objects at differnet times that they were lying.

Fung certainly knew that Roberts was marking a false blood trail and probably obscuring the direction of the real blood drops. If Fung were a part of a conspiracy to frame O.J. he would have blessed the marks that Roberts put down rather than picking them up. It is only becase he did pick them up that we can trace O.J.'s movents at the time the prosecuting was arguing that he was at Bundy. It's only because of Fung that we know O.J.'s cut finger proved he was going out of the gate instead of coming in. Too bad Fung didn't have the guts to tell the truth about why he didn't collect ANY of the blood drops laid down by Roberts. There had to be a good reason. Like you said, the man was not dumb. --Jasper
