The 1st sentence must be clear short and make then say to themselves, I want to know more. A great way to learn this skill is to study the first sentence in books. Most of the time when you like a book, if you look back, you will find an intreging, creative sentence that makes you want to know more about the statement or question, "It was a dark and stormy night." for example. You immediately know something terrible hanppend and like driving by a car wreck, you gotta find out what. A good way to practice is to pick something and write an add using say 30 letters, no more, no less.
