Los Angeles call-girl operator sentenced for tax evasion

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A convicted madam whose clients were said to include Hollywood figures and top business executives was sentenced Monday to 18 months in federal prison for tax evasion.

Jody Diane Babydol Gibson, 43, was allowed to serve her time concurrently with the three-year state prison term she received after a jury found her guilty of pimping last year.

U.S. District Judge Stephen V. Wilson also ordered Gibson to repay the nearly $200,000 in back taxes she owes the government.

"You will never see me in this system again," Gibson said. "I have more respect for the law now."

Gibson could have faced up to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty in April to six counts of tax evasion. She admitted failing to report more than $500,000 in income between 1994 and 1999.

Investigators said Gibson operated a ring of up to 30 call girls from a dilapidated home in Palo Verde, near the Arizona border.

Clients would pay between $500 and $3,000, choosing prostitutes from an Internet site, authorities said.
