I believe that Hodgeman had a major panic attack because he realized that this wasn't your normal slam dunk that the police had provided and that perhaps he had put some people behind bars using some of these same police officers. He was afraid of going to jail for life and suddenly decided he no longer wanted to be one of the lead prosecutors on this case. When you think that L.A tapped D.A.'s offices across the State to help with this case to help with the illusion that they had any real credible evidence against O.J. Simpson. I believe Hodgeman was glad to keep his job and not have to be looking over his shoulders the rest of his life waiting for the truth to come to light. Living with fear is not fun, no matter what kind of fear it is.
