There is a movie starring Don Johnson. I can't recall the name of it but I am going to try and find it.
It is a "true" story of a LA cop who gets involved in a case that begins in LA and goes all across the country. It was the "defining" case for the Aryan Nations groups being listed by the FBI as dangerous, etc. Up to that point, there was a denial by the FBI that they were a problem. Much like Hoover denied that there was an American Mafia for years and years and years.
I think it begins with a drive by shooting---of a cop I think. Just not sure.
It is a decent movie and might have some good clues in it.
