Nikki Hill Revisited

I am reading Chris Darden's book The Trials of Nikki Hill.

I believe Jean is correct that this is Darden's way of telling some info.

Perhaps not in specifics but in the general 'culture" of the LA DA's office and the LAPD.

DA's are corrupt, cops are corrupt with individual strong ties to gangs, and corrupt people and powerful people. Accepting payoffs from rich and powerful people in LA.

There are lots of specific things as well such as the Private Eye who is designed to be Pellicano or his friend and partner (whose name escapes me now). There is no doubt. Darden has him with Michael Jackson and chumming up with a corrupt/violent cop. This guy is a real BADDY. Suggests that he will do anything including killing people, blackmail, dirty tricks, breakins, muggings, etc.---or at least arrange for them.

Darden has Internal Affairs cops on the payroll of the bad guys. And much much more.

By implication, he tells what a mistake it is to take a case to trial when you don't have your facts down or you are still investigating the case.

And how the DA's get surprised over and over again by info that they find out later after the trial begins.

Also that other murders can be connected to the first case although they don't appear to be to start with.

More later charlie
