Under the new law in CA all drug offenders are allowed treatment. The law was written in such a way that this last arrest will be treated as first time and he goes to treatment. No politics, just true compassion at work. The Californians care about whether or not kids live to grow up. We don't want to put non violent drug users into jail. Had you been set up in Palm Springs the way Robert Downey was, you might go out on a bender figuring, why not?, since one would believe they were going to prison for a long time. He didn't know the new law swept clean times arrested for all drug users, not dealers, and will give him one more chance, as well as all other drug users.
