I think it should apply after death. I have done some thinking about this more as relates to a therapist. If I told a lawyer or therapist something in confidence I want it to stay that way.
There may be survivors that could be harmed in some way if certain things came out. And if I told something in confidence, I would be more likely protecting it from my kids than protecting myslef. Other wise I would talk it over with my kids.
I take confidentiality serioursly. They had a story that was told in school about a simple no biggie that a nurse told her mother who said something about the no biggie to a friend and how much suffering it caused.
