The purpose of the cards is to show where the evidence is, number the evidence, collect the evidence,protect the evidence until collected. So picking up and dropping the markers is most suspicious. Charlie is right in wondering. The evidene is meaningless without a clear chain of custody of evidence. The placing of the cards was for the video cameras so without saying a word, it shows the world that evidence was found at Rockingham without needing to tear the house apart. Speaking of which, considering the way the police usually leave crime scenes after they have torn up carpets and pulled up plants, it is amazing how they did none of this in this case. Allegedly they searched everywhere for things, yet they didn't really do that much considering they let everyone back in after five. Even the investigation was a Show Investigation.
