I'd say half and half. What Johnny Cochran said during his opening statement showed Hodgeman what the prosecution may have done and he had a panic attack so that he might gain an excuse serious enough to excuse himself without contempt charge. I think he also likes being a prosecutor and didn't want to loose his job for any riches. He no longer wanted to be co-head counsel with Marcia Clark for the prosecution. This got Darden to be with Ms Clark so they might giggle and slip love notes back and forth until the glove demonstration. I am getting close to believing even the giggle and alleged affair was set up to divert attention from that the fact that there was no real evidence that had a chain of custody that might ever be able to stand up to scrutiny.
