I just check a 1995 map put out by H.M. Gousha Company. It shows on exit off I-5 for Crown Valley parkway that is identifed as a county road. I have also checked a more recent Rand McNally map which shows that thee exists have been added to the I-5 that are north of the Parkway exit that were not there in 1994. One of these is the La Paz Road exist which is given as one of the routes to take to their place at this time.
So road configuration was very different in 1994 than it is today, and the difference undoubtedly extended the time it would take to make the trip.
