Okay Jasper, we are getting somewhere.
Using your sentence and making a small correction.
The only way this all fits is if Kato had a reason to say he heard the noise and then leave the telephone go to the back side of the garage stopping at the broken gate, because it was broken. His motive for being there could have been drugs, part of Nicole's plan to set up O.J. or else because he heard the noise.
I just can get past the fact that suddenly out of the blue Kato decides to be O.J.'s shadow at Rockingham on that Sunday. He was available to give evidence of all the anger and frustration he witnessed that day. Maybe Furhman had something on him, maybe he is just being a convienient witness. Maybe he just felt like being around O.J. I am simply not forgetting that Kato's behavior this day was just not his normal self. It has to be accounted for whether it has anything to do with the murder or not.
