Have you noticed how hard it is to see someone's body language on audiotape? Listening to Mark Fuhrman was one thing; looking and listening was another. The guy gave me the creeps. I couldn't say why and I might have been wrong in feeling that there was something really wrong with one of us when I tried to match his face to his words. But without seeing him, it would not have occurred to me to question whether he wore size-12 shoes, lived south of Nicole's condo, had an alibi or a partner with a smaller foot, "an older, deeper-sounding voice," etc. In short, I would not have begun to think about the things I had to think about when I had to think about them to work through the logic of whether someone other than O.J. could have matched the evidence better than he did.
As for the Justices' tape being edited or not…. I think that it will depend on the quality of their performance. If they rally shine (in their eyes) we will hear it all. If not, stay tuned for little audio nip and tuck here and there. -Jasper
