I think that Singular's source only knew part of the story. they knew that there was something funny about the stick, but assumed what the signifigence it was. They knew somehow that the glove was planted. I am almost sure that Singular went and looked himself.
Thanks for reminding me about the other stuff, I forgot that part I read in the book. It would not be unusual in this area for 2 places, a few blocks apart to have fenses made the same. And since Singular did not have access to the stick and I don't think it came out in the trial yet, he could also have found a broken place of a similar fense. I would not believe a thing Lange or Van A. say. I do think Singular was trying to be honest, it was just that the source had only half the info and made some assumptions that were not true.
