I spent a considerable amount of time on the thumps and the planted glove. Most people assume that the glove was left near Kato's air conditioner by accident or by design around the time the thumps were made. Others believe that Fuhrman planted the glove after talking to Kato.
There is no way anyone could have planted the glove at 10:40 or 10:45 when Kato reported the thumps. Those who point out the "freshness" of the glove when Fuhrman reported finding it, are right. After 8 hours it would have been as relatively dry just because of the clotting properties of blood when exposed to air. The glove had to have been in closed container like a plastic bag within a short time of the find. The absence of blood or disturbed vegetation around the glove suggests that it was dropped there from a remote location, like the Salinger's side of the fence. I could not find a reference to the Salinger's side being a foot or two lower than O.J.'s. so I can't say any more about that.
However, Fuhrman's interview with Kato struck me as having the same purpose as his interview with Rosa - to collect intelligence for his next move. That idea works whether you look at it from the standpoint of a detective trying to find out more about a possible suspect or whether you look at the detective as the killer looking for a good place to plant the glove. If he was looking for a good place to plant the glove, he could not have planted it already and he could not have had it on him. He would have left that to his partner, if his parter had the wherewithal to do it. If Roberts was the lookout on Bundy that Heidstra heard arguing with the man who said "Hey! Hey! Hey!" would have had the wherewithal to do it.
That idea fits a military-style hit where the killer does a reconnaissance of the area and waits until the time is right to make his move. The time Rosa heard the voices would have been the best time to do the recon. After Kato told Fuhrman about the thumps would have been the best time to plant the glove. The details of my analysis is in Iago. There is a hell of a lot of baggage that comes with that scenario. All of it has to fit. All of it does fit. --Jasper
