Could not figure out why Fuhrman asked about woman screaming until you reminded me that Arnell did scream. If she had said yes, then they could have dicounted every thing she said. The fact that they never followed up on what she heard, tells you that they did not want it known. Surprized she did not have an accident. It shows their guilt right there. Since she had only lived there for 5 days, they thought that the house was empty. Lights going on and off mean nothing as people put them on a thing to do that, so house does not look empty.They thought they could roam around the Salingers without being too quite as they thought it was empty. They came over to plant the glove about midnight and may have gotten scared off when Arnell drove up and then came back to finish the job. If they had not had a few unknowns to interveine then they would have gotten away with the whole thing.
