Hi Pat,
We're not real big on titles here so I hope you don't mind me addressing you by your first name.
Two things we are big on are honesty and respect for everyone else's intelligence. Everybody here is smart and all the old regulars (you'll see who they are when the archives get fixed) are smart enough and tough enough to take honest criticism, so fire away if you think we got something wrong. Honest disagreements are not a problem even if things get hot and touchy from time to time. Personal attacks ARE a problem. The biggest trouble we've had with that could be traced to misunderstandings and one jerk who popped in once a long time ago and left.
I have tried to contact both Donald Feed and Raymond Briggs several times. I got no reply and my letters where not returned. Killing Time was a valuable source of information for Iago. I used their clock approach to narrow the timeline of the killing and the time that Kato must have heard the thumps to within two minutes. I was hoping that one of them would write the Foreword to Iago. I also tried Joe Bosco who's A Problem of Evidence was another invaluable source of information. He never acknowledged my letters, either, and none of them were returned. You are, in fact, the only person with direct access to anyone who had direct access to the principles and the evidence to contact me. I contacted Dr. Johnson, had a long, pleasant conversation with him and sent for his tapes. I sent him a press kit with some pages from Iago and The Smoking Gun. I never heard from him again. I have never heard from O.J. or anyone speaking for O.J. although I've heard that one of his attorneys did mention the book.
I was not as impressed with the Bill Curtis program as you were. I thought it sucked big time. He got enough things right to make it seem credible and he introduced enough counter information to make it seem balanced and fair. But he got too many crucial facts wrong, including the kind of shoes O.J. was wearing at home (Curtis had him in Bruno Magli Lorenzos) and the time of the phone call from Nicole to her mother. He got so many things wrong about the glasses that none of it usable. I found that Joe Bosco made the same mistake Curtis did about Stewart Tanner's testimony. That was the biggest reason I wanted to talk to him. It was a HUGE error that makes all the difference in the world in figuring out what the killer planned and who was involved in carrying it out. Bosco also got the sequence of events wrong with respect to Robert Heidstra's testimony. That, too, makes all the difference in the world.
All of us make mistakes. In Iago I wrote that the baseball bat incident to Fuhrman wrote about in his 1989 report happed in 1985 when Fuhrman said it did. Kari insisted that it happened when O.J. said it did, in 1984. The more we got into it, the more everyone who was following the exchange realized that Kari was right. She had to be. I also made the mistake of calling O.J.'s dog Chachi an Akita. She was a Chow. In that sense, you can see that Iago is a "living" document. As we learn more it becomes a part of the record. If the BBC producers don't check in here they will be missing vital pieces of the puzzle that will come back and bite them when Iago goes into wide circulation. I'd hate to see that happen. Don't want anyone digging in his heels to protect an ill-advised decision to present a mistake as "the truth."
When the archives are restored you will have about as good a record in one place of a real investigation that you are likely to find anywhere outside of Killing Time and A Problem of Evidence. If you could talk some of your other friends and associates into joining us, it will be that much better. I am especially eager to talk to Donald Freed and Joe Bosco, both of whom I admire greatly. I fear, however, that Joe Bosco is way off track with Wasz and Kardashian. We REALLY need to talk about that.
As for Ron Goldman's Karate training, I think Feed and Briggs mentioned it. You may want to talk to one of them. I lost interest in it the second I realized Ron and Nicole were hit in the back of the head on opposite sides. That, combined with the sure-kill wounds on both bodes and the stab wound in Goldman's thigh, convinced me that the killer was schooled and drilled in the stun technique used in the military. It didn't matter whether Ron and Nicole had Karate training or not, a knowledgeable, well-drilled soldier (or marine) would have been able to take them out with ease. A knowledgeable, well-drilled homicide detective would know how to drag it out and make it look like a fight.
If you want to know more abut Ron's Karate training someone here is likely to be able to help you once they get the word that the discussion board is working the way it's supposed to and they start posting again. Meanwhile, let me suggest that you follow up on the Karate classes that Nicole was taking. There can't be that many Karate clubs or instructors in the greater Los Angeles area. If Ron and Nicole were frequenting the same bars and coffeehouses and seeing the same shrink why wouldn't they at least visit the same Karate clubs. If there is no record of his membership in any of the clubs in the area I would begin to question whether he trained in Karate at all. Maybe he practiced another martial art or none at all. As I said, the stun technique renders the question moot for me. As soon as Ron was hit by someone who knew what he was doing he was as good as dead.
One thing I hope you can help me with is a picture of the shoes O.J. wore to the recital. They are key to the "disappearing Bruno Magli Lorenzo" trick and Denise Brown's part in it. I have to be able to show a side-by side comparison of the two shoes to make a convincing case. My copy of the trial has the E! TV logo right on top of the shoes in the picture of O.J. and Sydney. Another thing I could use is a picture or even a good description of the property on the opposite side of 875 S. Bundy and 360 N. Rockingham.
Again, your best source of information about Mezzaluna as a drug distribution source is Freed and Bosco. That's where I got my information. What made it credible to me were the "expert" color commentators on E! and Court TV who said the same thing with no apparent fear of being sued and their additional comments about Keith Zlomsowitch, the manager of the Mezzaluna restaurant in California and Colorado. His involvement in the drug trade was the reason they cited for why the prosecution didn't call him as a witness in the criminal trial. Find out what happened in the investigation of Zlomsowitch and I'm sure you'll have your answer.
On the other hand, Charlie, Kate or Allita may be about to give you your answer right away. Another source of information you might try if you can get in contact with her, is Kathleen Sullivan who hosted the E! TV presentation of the trial. She can put a name to some of the "color commentates" and "experts" I was talking about.
