Bob – I wish you’d been with us years ago. We know who Lucian Colman is and her report about the two cops (Mark Arneson was one of them) with signed affidavits that they heard Fuhrman boasting in 1992 about having an affair with Nicole. We have researched the subject extensively and discussed it at length. We know what Joseph Bosco wrote in A Problem of Evidence about Colman, her former friend Marcia Clark and Marcia’s star witness Mark Fuhrman with respect to the Fuhrman-Nicole issue. We know what Steven Singular wrote about Fuhrman being “Nicole’s cop” in his book Legacy of Deception. ..............The bottom line on these rumors of Fuhrman having an intimate relationship with Nicole is that the only evidence of where they originated starts and stops with Fuhrman. But the alleged relationship between Fuhrman and Nicole is only the package that his claim of KNOWING about O.J.’s “escalating pattern of abuse” comes in. He “knows” because Nicole told him in the course of their affair. Indeed, Singular’s “white knight” theory to explain why Fuhrman planted the Rockingham glove is based on the idea that the story is true. According to the white night theory Fuhrman wanted to make sure O.J. was convicted because he KNEW about O.J. pattern of abuse that led to her death and he felt guilty about not protecting her from him. .................This story does not help O.J. It helps Fuhrman. What reason did O.J. have to believe it? Fuhrman’s story of having an affair with Nicole reinforces the image of O.J. as a spouse abuser, which he wasn’t, and gives Fuhrman a motive other than race for planting the glove. O.J. did believe that Fuhrman planted the glove. He knew that Fuhrman was a liar. He refuses to look at Fuhrman as a murder suspect, even to this day, partly because the evidence against Fuhrman also implicates him. .............. You are right about O.J. taking charge of his defense. He did – which is why the defense leaned so heavily on its massive police frame-up conspiracy theory after the fact. According to this theory Fuhrman and Vannatter worked together to frame O.J, with Fuhrman planning the glove on Rockingham and Vannatter planting the blood drops on the Rockingham driveway. The defense relied heavily on Fuhrman’s partner Brad Roberts to confuse the timeline for the murders. They used Roberts’ report on his interview with Steven Schwab to support the idea that Nicole was still alive when O.J. had an airtight alibi with Kato and Park as witnesses. ................This is the basket into which O.J. has put all of his I-didn’t-do-it eggs. He wants to believe that he cut his finger after 11:00 and, to prove his innocence, he has pursued phone records he believes would prove Nicole was alive after 11:00 – which also puts Fuhrman in the clear. He does not know when or how he cut his finger or how the blood drops on his driveway that were recorded by Dennis Fung help him and how the rest of them implicate Brad Roberts. He relied on Bill Pavelic to spearhead his search for the real killers. Cochran didn’t trust Pavelic. O.J. did. A surefire way of getting most people not to look at the evidence against Fuhrman is simply to name him as a murder suspect. They just assume you are irrationally motivated by his use of a racial epithet and tune out. We can’t get around that assumption but O.J. thinks he can. –Jasper
